Finally, this year, Nathaniel's feet were big enough to fit into the smallest pair of hip waders. Nathaniel was excited... We were excited... I even got a Saturday off work! Things were looking good.
It was on the warm side and we were going to spot that was pretty hard to get into, so Haley stayed with Jim's parents while we took Nat out for a couple hours.
Nathaniel started off casting and was doing very well. He was liking it, but all of those rocks lying at his feet would seem to catch his eye. He kept at it, but he and Jim just weren't getting any bites. I just stood back and observed, helped Nat when he needed it and tried to capture the moments.

Note the two boys below. Jim is still actively pursuing the fish. Nathaniel? Well, he's getting a little discouraged... disinterested shall we say. Notice his posture and body language.

Soon after, he was more interested in the rocks and other things. But Jim was determined to keep at it and catch a fish to get his attention back. Here he is in such hot pursuit, he almost went in over his waders.

And in all that attempt to get Nat out and fishing, he was happiest in his waders throwing stones. Go figure!
Meanwhile, Haley was waiting for us back at the Jim's parents' house. We arrived to find her on the porch with Pap, playing with her favorite toy. Notice the look she shot Jim when he made a move for her toy, as she guards it with her hands and body. Haley doesn't share her toy with anyone. And she'll quickly let you know it too.

I love the way that your photos tell a story all by themselves-- they are so amazing! :-)
